Two-way communication between parents and teachers is greatly encouraged. This is achieved through –
- general parent-teacher meetings
- individual parent and teacher meetings
Should you be concerned regarding your child’s academic progress, social relationships or you are concerned regarding a classroom matter, in the first instance you are required to contact the class teacher. Should resolution not be achieved, please then contact the Principal.

Year level parent coordinators volunteer each year to liaise between the class teacher and the parents in a particular class and to assist in organising particular aspects of school life for these parents eg: working bees; care and concern.
Our pastoral care program is enhanced by our “buddy system” which partners up older and younger students. In this way our youngest community members have a ready, willing and able helping hand and buddy in the playground and at times when they are unsure of themselves.
Parent Helpers
Parent helpers are to be welcome and encouraged to take an active part in the daily life of our school. Prior to commencing work within the school each day all helpers must register at the School office. It is essential that at all times we know who is in our school and where they will be located, particularly so in the event of an emergency.
IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE DIRECTIVES OF THE CHILDREN’S COMMISSION IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ALL SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS HAVE COMPLETED THE VOLUNTEER INDUCTION COURSE PRIOR TO VOLUNTEERING WITHIN OUR SCHOOL. Please contact the school office for further information.
Communication
It is school policy to make parents feel welcome when visiting or telephoning the school to discuss matters of interest or concern. When possible, please try to plan communication with class teachers, before school, after school or during the lunch hour. Please feel free to take advantage of the opportunity to contact the school whenever the need arises.
Children like to see their parents at school, whether you are attending a working bee, helping in the classrooms, or library or talking to a teacher. Such visits are encouraged. Visitors are asked to report to the office and sign the visitor’s book as a Workplace Health and Safety procedure before proceeding to a class.
Interviews
Parents who wish to have an interview to discuss their concerns with the Principal should make an appointment through the Secretary. Parents wishing to have an interview with a teacher should also make an appointment through the Secretary so that arrangements can be made to keep interference to the teaching day to a minimum. Alternatively, a short note addressed to the teacher may suffice.
School Newsletter
A school newsletter is sent home each Tuesday. Please read it carefully as it contains information important for the effective running of our school. We prefer to email it home to families. Where this is not possible the newsletter is given to the eldest child in each family.
