Prepping for TWO Prep Classes in 2024

St Finbarr’s Primary School, Ashgrove is one inner-city catholic primary school experiencing a surge in enrolments and will grow its Prep offering to two classes in 2024.

Principal, Mrs Catherine Connors, said the improved Prep enrolment levels could be attributed to many factors.

“Our staff work tirelessly to provide the best possible outcomes for all students which has been reflected in strong NAPLAN results, significantly above state and Brisbane Catholic Education averages.

“We also have such a welcoming parent community and our parents are our greatest advocates. Word is getting out that families love being a part of our community and what it offers,” Mrs Connors said.

There has also been a change of guard at the school with 2023 being Mrs Connor’s first year as Principal, bringing a new energy to the role.

To celebrate the addition of a second Prep class in 2024, a ‘Prepping for TWO Prep classes’ party was held to celebrate with the incoming Prep students.

Wearing their ‘I’m prepping for Prep’ t-shirts, the event was an opportunity for new families to get to know each other and to start the transition process for the new Prep students.

Two 2024 Prep students currently living interstate also joined in the fun via Teams video link.

Incoming parents Joel and Jen said the addition of an additional Prep class was worth celebrating.

“This is wonderful news. Rose is beyond excited for next year and keeps telling anyone who will listen (and even those who don’t) that her teacher’s name is Mrs Fiechtner and she likes football and is very kind.

“Thanks to all involved for making her transition so exciting,” they said.
